November 2004 - coming soon

January 2006 - After eliminating the limited number of possible diagnoses to explain the weakness in my body a neuro-specialist decided it had to be ALS. Playing God, she decided I had between two and five years to live. I promptly thanked her for her opinion and decided right then and there I never wanted to see her again and that I would do all I could to prove her wrong. Although I had a background in healing and alternative medicine I immediately began to research and study everything I could find on the nervous system and its disorders.

June 2006 - My research led me to a few ideas I decided to explore with a nearby naturopath, Dr. Kind. I used him to have my nutritional profile done discovering many deficiencies and malfunctions. My amino acids were severely imbalanced and my detoxification pathways were blocked. I also had him test me for heavy metal toxicity where we discovered extremely elevated quantities of aluminum, lead, mercury, nickel, cadmium and a handful of other toxic heavy metals. From a pathological test we discovered I had several stealth bacteria and virus hampering my immune function. With these results as a guide and starting point I began nutritional supplementation, IV therapy and Chelation. It was unfortunate at the time that I did not know enough about the Chelation part of Dr. Kind's treatment for his limited experience with my situation led us into some complications in clearing the toxic metal load from my body. My weakness had stabilized throughout these months but upon retesting my metal load we discovered my numbers had increased. Quite possibly we had mobilized the metal but had not thoroughly removed it from the body and may have just relocated it from one area to another. Somewhat disheartened I continued to research other possibilities.

October 2006 - Traveled to Huiahua, China to experiment with traditional Chinese medicine. I spent one month doing daily treatment of acupuncture, tuina message, and herbal teas. Specifically prescribed for my Chinese diagnosis of damp spleen and wind liver. Several of my meridians were either under functioned, blocked or overactive. It was determined my body was not working harmoniously and their treatment evolved around restoring and revitalizing my organs and energy systems. Throughout the course of the month I regained some strength in my leg and decided there was merit to this form of treatment but living in Huiahua came at a price. As China is a very busy and very dirty country I was overwhelmed by the pollution there and sensed I was making a compromise unworthy of the gain or benefit I was receiving. I returned home with my herbal tea prescription and a commitment to continue with this course of action as best I could back in Canada.

April 2007 - With a regimend of correcting nutritional imbalances and my home version TCM I needed to pursue the pathological piece of the puzzle which included various possible virus and bacteria invading my system. My research led me to believe that oxygen therapies would be a prudent force of action and in particular hyperbaric oxygen therapy. We traveled to Ireland for one month to do a course of 40 one hour HBO sessions. In Canada this would have cost several thousand dollars more than what they were offering it for in Ireland so we traveled there for both the experience and the experiment. I was going on the premise that no nasties could live in an oxygen rich environment so every day for one hour and some days two one hour sessions I discended in a chamber to an atmospheric pressure that drove the oxygen I was breathing deep into the cells and tissue of my body.

August 2007 - Acting on a great idea grossly misrepresented we traveled to the Dominican Republic for Stem Cell Therapy. Thinking I could regenerate some of the nerve damage before it got worse. I did a one shot IV stem cell with four direct intermuscular injections. In hindsight I now know that this therapy was ineffective at regeneration and was essentially wasted in fighting the infections and neutralizing the toxins I had yet to take control of within my body. While it did hold off the progression of any symptoms for several months it did little to actually regenerate the nerves as I had originally been promised.

more coming soon.....

Notes:

wouldn't give up anything I did but would do them in a different order
